Schuco Donald Duck Hand Sample Prototype Pre-War (73528)

A piece that is missing even in the most important collections: a Schuco prototype of the first Donald Duck model from the pre-war period .
This model was never mass-produced – it is an absolutely unique one-of-a-kind piece , and there is guaranteed to be no other like it in this form.

Manufactured in the Schuco factory of the 1930s, Donald already shows many of the characteristic details:

  1. Spring leaf and sheet metal arms
  2. a fully finished head with a tin hat ,
  3. original hand-lacquered surface with very good color retention,
  4. Body made of papier-mâché .

Height: 14 cm. Period of origin: approx. 1930s.

The story behind this prototype is as extraordinary as the model itself:
As part of a collector's liquidation, we were able to acquire this unique set of 4 prototypes . These are heirlooms from a former Schuco employee who worked in product design at the time – including being responsible for the later legendary Schuco Donald Duck models.

This object combines everything that makes a collector's item of world renown: uniqueness, documented origin and the highest historical significance . A model that makes the creative development process at Schuco immediately tangible - and in this form possesses museum character .

Tradition & Expertise in the Toy Trade

I discovered my passion for tin toys and enamel signs early on, and gained my first experience at flea markets and trade fairs.
In 1986, I turned my hobby into a profession – the foundation for Tintoy-World, which has also been active on eBay since 1996. With decades of experience and expertise, I have established myself as one of the leading dealers for tin toys and am now a well-established figure in the industry.
