Schuco Donald Duck Hand Sample Prototype Pre-War (73530)

Schuco Donald Duck Hand Sample Prototype Pre-War (73530)

An extraordinary historical artifact from Schuco's factory history: Prototype of the first Donald Duck model from the pre-war period .
This piece was never mass-produced – it is an absolutely unique one-of-a-kind item , and there is guaranteed to be no other like it in this form.

Manufactured in the Schuco factory of the 1930s, this prototype already shows the next step in development – almost the final version of the Donald that would later be produced:

  • with real feet and body , bearing the Schuco logo ,

  • movable arms with drumsticks and drum ,

  • fully finished head with tin hat , this time not open,

  • original hand-painted, in very good condition,

  • Body made of mass , height approx. 14 cm.

This figure impressively documents how close Schuco already was to production readiness – and what design precision has gone into the product design.

The story behind this prototype makes it even more significant: As part of a collector's estate sale, we were able to acquire this unique set of 4 prototypes . These are heirlooms of a former Schuco employee who worked in product design in the 1930s – including for the later legendary Donald Duck models.

This object combines historical authenticity, documented origin and absolute uniqueness . A piece of museum quality that will delight not only collectors, but also lovers of Schuco's company history.

Tradition & Expertise in the Toy Trade

I discovered my passion for tin toys and enamel signs early on, and gained my first experience at flea markets and trade fairs.
In 1986, I turned my hobby into a profession – the foundation for Tintoy-World, which has also been active on eBay since 1996. With decades of experience and expertise, I have established myself as one of the leading dealers for tin toys and am now a well-established figure in the industry.
